The 2010 Census is "a short form" census that collects only basic information. Age, Sex, Race, Hispanic or Latino origin, Household Relationship and whether your Home is Owned or Rented. How Elected Officials Use Census Data
In FY2007 alone Maryland received over $5.8 billion in federal formula-based grants ($1,000 per person per year).
Census information helps determine locations for schools, roads, hospitals, child-care and senior citizen programs and facilities
Census data are used to obtain grants for needed social, recreational and economic development programs
Census data are used by economic development offices and chambers of commerce to attract businesses
Census data on the community’s labor force are used to recruit employees
