Applications are being accepted for Elkton Police Department's Citizens Police Academy. The Academy offers an opportunity for members of the community to become closely acquainted with the roles and responsibilities of the police, and brings the police and the community together in a setting that offers a sample of police training to each participant.  EPD officers will serve as instructors, and citizens will have the opportunity to explore police services, court services, corrections, juvenile law, criminal investigations, crime scene processing, self protection, defensive weapons and tactics.

The Citizens Police Academy will be held at Elkton Middle School, from 6pm to 8 p.m. every Monday, starting March 5, 2012, and ending May 29, 2012.  Class size will be limited to 20 students.  Applicants must submit to a background check as part of the application process, and candidates for the program also must be able to participate in a limited number of physical activities.

Click here for the application; or applications can be picked up at the Elkton Police Department located at 100 Railroad Avenue.  Completed applications must be returned by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012, to allow time to complete the background checks.
