Commissioner Mary Jo Jablonski

Background:

It is my pleasure to serve a second term as your Town Commissioner. Being a member of a board that is diligently working to move the town in the right direction and become an even better place to live work and play, drives me to be the best possible advocate for you, the people.

I relocated to Elkton in 1982 when I married my husband who resided in town. Still married today over 30 years later, we have welcomed Elkton as our home & have raised 2 wonderful daughters who now reside in town with their families.

Work Experience:

In 1998 I began volunteering my time to the town, serving on event committees focused on showcasing all Elkton has to offer. As I became more ingrained in the towns active efforts, my journey led to an offer of employment with the Elkton Alliance, Inc. in 2000.

In addition to serving as the executive director for the Elkton Alliance, in 2009 I was approached to oversee the Boys and Girls Club of Cecil County. Both of these organizations missions are very important to me.

Vision for Elkton

I have always had a true passion for Elkton and believe that we can revitalize the downtown area with smart growth that generates tax revenue, while restoring Elkton to its historical thriving roots. I firmly believe that collaborating with our County Government, County Economic Development Department, and our local legislation remain vital partnerships needed to support the projects that will help to create intelligent and sustainable growth.

Proactively involving our youth in educational, character, leadership, & anti drug programs that build valuable life skills, goes hand and hand with revitalizing the town. We need to provide the best possible environment for our future leaders.
